Mobile’s Prospect neighborhood is located approximately 12 miles southwest of downtown. A large portion of Prospect is undeveloped property, but a pocket of single-family homes lies in the southern portion of the neighborhood. In the northern part of Prospect, there is also a small area around Whisper Lakes Court that contains a handful of homes.
Prospect is situated in the 36619 zip code area of Mobile County. The neighborhood is bounded by Three Notch Kroner Road to the south, Leroy Stevens Road to the north, Gold Mine Road East to the west, and Schillinger Road South to the east. Prospect borders the D’Iberville neighborhood to the north. Other nearby neighborhoods to Prospect includes Goldmine to the west and Travis to the east.
Various shopping and dining venues sit on the south end of Prospect, where a majority of the residents live. Various chain stores, pharmacies, and convenience stores are located near the Schillinger Road South and Three Notch Kroner Road intersection. For more shopping choices, residents can travel approximately four miles east of Prospect. Surrounding the Spanish Trail-Rangeline Road intersection are the Cloverleaf Plaza Shopping Center and larger chain stores like a Walmart Supercenter. Causey Middle School is located about three miles to the northwest, with Burns Middle School to the northeast, also about three miles from Prospect. Theodore High School is situated about five miles to the southeast.
One of the nearest public parks to Prospect is Cottage Hill Park, about four and a half miles to the northeast. Recreational amenities offered at Cottage Hill Park include various athletic fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, a children’s playground, and scenic walking paths. Prospect residents can also enjoy a day out fishing or boating on the Dog River, located approximately six and a half miles to the east of the neighborhood.
