Pinewood Apartments for Rent
Much of the Pinewood neighborhood belongs to Miller Park and Magnolia Grove Golf Club. The residential section echoes the atmosphere of park and golf course. Home styles range from luxurious ranch homes to country estates set on many acres. It’s a gracious neighborhood of gentle hills, winding roads, manicured lawns, hardwoods, and pines. Many parts of the neighborhood have sidewalks. Pinewood is accessed by Howell’s Ferry Road. It is in zip code 36618.
It’s a great neighborhood for those who enjoy fishing, sailing, or golf. Big Creek Lake is a good fishing lake just west of Pinewood. The 3,600-acre reservoir is an impoundment of Big Creek. Those who prefer sailing will find many regattas scheduled at the Buccaneer Yacht Club on Mobile Bay. Magnolia Grove Golf Club is a 36-championship-hole course, with three distinct courses. It is part of the famed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which the New York Times described as “some of the best public golf on Earth.”
Just southeast is 100-acre Mobile Botanical Gardens. The Gardens feature interpretive boardwalks and 3 miles of hiking trails. The Garden’s MarketPlace is open Saturdays from spring to fall and it’s a great place to purchase plants. Master gardeners are often on hand to answer questions. The Gardens also offer educational programs and workshops. Even non-gardening folks enjoy walking the trails. The Gardens are less than three miles from Pinewood.
Mobile has its share of famous people, and Winston Groom is one of Mobile’s most famous writers. If the author’s name is not familiar, it’s likely that his most famous creation is: Forrest Gump. The book was written after Groom returned to Mobile in 1985.
The neighborhood is close to the University of South Alabama, numerous historic sites, and antebellum homes.
