Leinkauf Apartments for Rent
Leinkauf is a residential and historic district located in Midtown Mobile. The residential areas of Leinkauf reflect the history of the neighborhood with its charming homes and apartment buildings. Tree-lined streets and established sidewalks with patches of lawn invite residents for a stroll through the neighborhood. Leinkauf is bordered by Government Street (US Route 90), a two-lane highway which gives residents and tourists access to the attractions and tourist destinations of Mobile.
Elementary, middle, and high schools in the Mobile County Public School System serve the community. The historic Leinkauf School, established in 1903, is the oldest elementary school in Alabama and is in walking distance.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the historic districts of Midtown Mobile. The pedestrian friendly Leinkauf Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 and contains architecture from Victorian to Shotgun style. Self-guiding walking tours or driving tours are described in brochures from the Mobile Historic Development Commission, which are available at downtown hotels.
The 40,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium is directly south of the neighborhood and is considered the perfect setting for spectator sports. A Mobile landmark for over 60 years, the stadium is a football fanatic’s dream. Four local high school football teams and the University of South Alabama call the stadium home. Other events include the Gulf Coast Classic, Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, GoDaddy.com Bowl, and Under Armour Senior Bowl.
The Mobile Public Library is located along Government Street and is close to the neighborhood. The family friendly library provides services for patrons of all ages.
Shopping couldn’t get any easier for Mobile’s shopping enthusiasts. Springdale Mall features nationally known anchor stores, including Best Buy and Sam’s Club. Across the street is the Bel Air Mall, with over 130 national and local stores, plus a Venetian carousel for the children.
