Greenwich Hills Apartments for Rent
Homes in the Greenwich Hills neighborhood range from simple ranch style to quite upscale homes, with some newly constructed houses adding a contemporary look. Some homes are quite elegant, set well back from the street with sweeping lawns and massive live oaks.
The Greenwich Hills neighborhood is bounded by Azalea Road, Cottage Hill Road, and South University Boulevard, in zip code 36609.
Many neighborhood amenities make this a desirable area. The retail area just north at the intersection of I-65 and Airport Boulevard has major retailers, Books A Million, and several fast food and casual dining establishments.
Nearby Cottage Hill Park, about two miles west, has fields for soccer, football, baseball and softball, and tennis courts. There are a number of golf courses in this area, too, including several private country clubs, and a public course, Azalea City Golf Club.
Within five miles are the Mobile Regional Airport, the University of South Alabama, and Spring Hill College. Mobile Bay is less than ten miles away.
Around Mobile Bay are many of the city’s best-known historic sites. The USS Alabama, a WW II battleship, has seen 13 million visitors since it opened to the pubic in 1965. An important Civil War site is at Blakeley Historic Park. Visitors enjoy exploring the 3,800 acres of earthen forts and rifle pits. The legendary “hanging tree” still stands, supposedly once used for executions. The park is the largest National Register Historic Place site east of the Mississippi.
Bellingrath Gardens delights visitors year round – there’s always something in bloom. The 65-acre estate and 10,500 square foot home are very popular, drawing visitors from around the nation. Many board the Southern Belle for a 45-minute cruise on the Fowl River. The terraces along the river are a perfect place to relax and take in the natural beauty of Bellingrath.
