Belmeade is an affluent neighborhood with charming starter homes, sprawling custom houses, and luxury apartments. Although the neighborhood is a subdivision of Mobile, residents have a country feel to their surroundings because of the generous lots or acreage. Children can walk to elementary, middle, and high schools. Providence Hospital provides a medical and surgical facility for residents. West Mobile Park is located north of the neighborhood. The 66-acre park has picnic tables, a playground, and a basketball court. The 66-acre park hosts youth and adult softball and soccer tournaments. Cheerleading programs are available.

Old-fashioned, family fun can be found at the Dreamland Skate Center. The center boasts the only wooden floor roller skating rink in Mobile and is located in Belmeade. It is home of the champion DreamTeam Jam Skating Team.

Golf enthusiasts have the Azalea City Golf Course, a public golf course which has hosted champion golfer Arnold Palmer and other professional golfers. The tree-lined, well-manicured greens attract golfers of all skill levels. The golf course was selected as one of the top public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest.

By personal vehicle, Belmeade is minutes from Downtown Mobile. For public transportation, residents and visitors take the WAVE buses. The Mobile Regional Airport has connecting flights to transportation hubs in the United States.

Mobile’s Saenger Theatre opened in 1927 and is “Alabama’s greatest showplace.” The theater has hosted performances throughout the years. It is a performing arts center and home of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.

The Mardi Gras is celebrated in Mobile, and it is believed that the city is the original site of the American pre-Lenten carnival. The Mobile Carnival Museum covers the history of Mobile’s Mardi Gras. Memorabilia and a collection of costumes dating from 1921 are part of the exhibit.
