Bellewood Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The homes of the Bellewood neighborhood range from large ranch-style to luxurious estates. The terrain varies from level to gentle hills, and many areas are heavily wooded. Bellewood is bounded by Moffet Road, Zeigler Boulevard, and North University Boulevard in ZIP code 36618.
From the neighborhood it is a lovely walk to several of Mobile’s top attractions only a mile south. First there is The Mobile Museum of Art with an extensive collection of items spanning two centuries. It is the largest art museum between New Orleans and Tampa. Traveling exhibits mean there is always something new and worthwhile to see. But the museum is only one of many attractions here.
Across the street from the museum is Play House in the Park, home of community theatre. The lake at Langan Park has walking trails and one trail leads to the Mobile Botanical Gardens. The gardens have their own trails, and walking along these is beautiful any time of year. The Gardens offer workshops and plant sales, too. Top-notch Azalea City Golf Club course adjoins the Gardens.
Other neighborhood attractions include a large tennis club, Copeland-Cox Mobile Tennis Center. This city-run facility has 60 courts and offers lessons, tournaments, camps, and clinics.
Less than two miles away is the University of South Alabama campus, home to more than 14,000 students. With a comprehensive academic program, it also adds to the cultural and recreational options available to community. Spring Hill College is also quite close and is frequently near the top of national rankings for excellence.
A number of grand homes and gardens draw visitors and locals year round. These include Bellingrath, Oakleigh Historic Complex, and Bragg-Mitchell Mansion. Bellingrath was named the top rose garden in the US recently. With events year-round, it is always a great escape close to home.
