Midtowne on the Park is one of the newest areas of Huntsville, in an area of large, contemporary homes, currently under development. New apartment complexes and a nearby retail center are easily accessed by the sidewalks in the area. It is bound on the east by Mainline Way Northwest, and accessed by Explorer Boulevard Northwest.

Westside Centre is a five-minute walk from the neighborhood. Along with regional restaurants such as Logan’s Roadhouse, there are several local eateries here as well. Major retailers in the mall include Burlington Coat Factory, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Target. There is a Wal-Mart Supercenter nearby as well.

For destination shopping, many locals and visitors choose Bridge Street. The outside mall has 70 upscale shops, restaurants, and theaters, in addition to fountains, lakes, and a ¾-mile walking trail. Bridge Street is close to Cummings Research Park.

The area is quite convenient to one of Huntsville’s most famous sites: Redstone Arsenal and Marshall Flight Center. Young people from around the nation hope for a coveted spot at Space Camp. Of course, there are educational exhibits tracing the nation’s space program from its earliest days.

A popular recreational site is the Hays Nature Preserve and Goldsmith Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary. The preserve and sanctuary provide more than 10 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Portions of the trails are designated for horseback riding.

University of Alabama Huntsville is about three miles southeast of the neighborhood. UAH offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, with an emphasis on health science, engineering, and science.

Huntsville maintains about sixty parks, from small green spaces to large municipal parks and aquatic centers. A half-dozen golf courses, both public and private, are located around town. The nearest to Midtowne on the Park neighborhood is Monrovia Golf Course, about two miles northwest.
