West Goldwire is a neighborhood in the far southwestern portion of Birmingham, Alabama. This community is about 20 minutes from the heart of downtown Birmingham. It extends to 33rd Street Southwest and Wilson Road Southwest on the west, Oak Avenue Southwest on the north, 31st Street Southwest on the east, and Grasselli Avenue Southwest on the south, but a good portion extends well past Wenonah Road Southwest to the southeast, encompassing part of Venice Road.

The central portion of the West Goldwire neighborhood consists mostly of single-family homes on well-shaded lots. The northern portion is home to a Baptist church and a few commercial options. Just outside of neighborhood bounds on the northwest, still easily within walking distance of the residential area, is the Wenonah High School. Lawson State Community College can be found just west of the high school. The southeastern portion of the neighborhood is mostly undeveloped wooded land, with the exception of a few utility sites along Venice Road.
There isn’t a great deal else to be found in the immediate area, but residents are within a short drive of several area amenities. A few miles to the northwest are at least five shopping centers, including Bellview Plaza West, Weibel Square, and Woodfield Square. Here, residents can choose from a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
