Mason City Apartments for Rent
Situated to the north of a beautiful forest pocket in Birmingham, Alabama, is Mason City. Mason City is situated north of Spalding Ishkooda Road, west of Montevallo Road, and south of the railroad tracks. Residents here have a number of options with many different construction styles from brick, to block, and even wood. Homes here also vary dramatically in size from the smaller multiple family apartments on the northwest side, to the single and double story single family dwellings throughout the rest of the neighborhood.
Even without sidewalks, residents here take advantage of the peaceful streets and take to the roads for a variety of activities. For those who don’t enjoy walking, running, or cycling a small park off Dorothy Drive provides a number of amenities for the entire family. The park offers baseball, tennis, swimming, basketball, and plenty of space for picnics and birthday parties. Another park, Lowery Park to the north off Mims Avenue, is where many area youth play baseball and softball.
For a little history lesson, Oak Hill Cemetery, along the northern border of Mason City, is definitely the best destination. Oak Hill is the oldest cemetery in Birmingham, having been first used by the city in the early 1870s and is the final resting place for many of the first founders. The cemetery is also believed to be where those that suffered during a major cholera epidemic in 1873 were buried.
There are many churches representing a wide number of beliefs in all directions. There are also a number of schools giving parents options for K-12 and college.
