The neighborhood of Enon Ridge lies not far to the northwest of downtown Birmingham, Alabama. It is bordered by Interstate 65 to the east and is close by to Interstate 59 to the south. But what dominates the area is a railroad switching yard known as the BNSF Thomas Yard which borders Enon Ridge to the northwest. Homes here are relatively inexpensive with the average list price being around $40K.

The Civil Rights District in Birmingham is an historic area where in the early 1960s, many dramatic and violent events occurred. The 16th Street Baptist Church was bombed on September 15, 1963 killing four children and injuring 22 others. Kelly Ingram Park was the site of many civil rights protests.
The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame is also located in this district.
Minutes away, south on Interstate 65 is Oak Mountain. At 10,000 acres, it is Alabama’s largest state park and has campgrounds, cabins, hike and bike trails, horseback riding facilities and a golf course. Oak Mountain is one of the southern-most peaks of the Appalachian Mountains.
