East Brownville Apartments for Rent

The East Brownville neighborhood of Birmingham is an urban area along Wenonah Road Southwest, Alvin Avenue Southwest, Felix Avenue Southwest, and 45th Avenue Southwest. The middle-class neighborhood covers 3.8 square miles and has a low population density. Houses, condominiums, apartments, and mobile homes are housing options.

East Brownville is close to highways 5, 7, 11, and 65. Most residents use their personal vehicles to commute. The buses of the Metro Area Express serve the neighborhood. Residents and tourists have access to Amtrak and the Birmingham International Airport.

Miles College, founded in 1898, is a historically black college closest to East Brownville. It also is the location of Miles Law School.

The Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation is near the neighborhood. The 21-acre park honors veterans with an educational center, the Regiment of Columns and a temple of 11,000 names engraved in stone.

Rickwood Field, a simple green and white ballpark, is the nation’s oldest baseball field. Established in 1910 for the Coal Barons professional baseball team, the Birmingham Barons return once a year for the Rickwood Classic. The Barons are a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Chicago White Sox.

Oak Mountain State Park is a short drive from East Brownville. The 9,940-acre park is Alabama’s largest state park. Visitors can take a scenic drive to the top of Double Oak Mountain. The park has nature, hiking, equestrian, and mountain biking trails. Camping is allowed. Double Oak Lake has two 85-acre lakes that are stocked with largemouth bass, catfish and crappie. The lake has picnic areas, public swimming and volleyball. Oak Mountain Golf Course is golf course designed by golf architect Earl Stone. The 18-hole championship golf course hosted qualifying rounds for the Alabama Open.
