Grissom – Highland is a neighborhood in Blacksburg, Montgomery County in the state of Virginia under the zip code 24060. It covers a total of 1.128 square miles with borders including Valleyview Drive on the north, Nellies Lane Road, New Kent Road and State Route 681 on the south, South Main Street and Country Club Drive on the west and Somerset and Highland Circle on the east.

Top industries in the area include education, training and service-oriented industries. Most residents are in the school, library, food service, sales, and office occupations.

Grissom – Highland is an ideal residential spot for those who prefer a quiet neighborhood outside the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. Yet it is only a few minutes away from many points of interest and the most happening places around Blacksburg. Grissom Lane and Park Drive are the main thoroughfares in Grissom – Highland. It is very near Downtown Blacksburg on its western border and Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport on its southwestern tip. Outside the neighborhood’s eastern border are mostly lands awaiting further development.

Although there are not many commercial establishments around this residential neighborhood, locals have easy access to those located on its western end, particularly along South Main Street. Most of these establishments are restaurants, local stores, auto service shops and health-related businesses. Residents also have easy access to the Southeast Park located just outside its southern border.

There are a number of schools for elementary, middle school, and high school students in the area. There are also two very near preschools for the younger students including the Noah’s Ark Pre-school along South Main Street and Children’s Nest Pre-school located just outside Grissom – Highland’s northwestern border. With college students’ proximity to Virginia Tech and Radford University, the Blacksburg area is also acknowledged as a top location for developing high tech industries.
