The Ellett – Jennelle neighborhood in Blacksburg, Virginia covers an area of 1.566 square miles. This residential community with zip code 24060 is bordered by South Main Street on the west, Susser Road, Cedar Hill Drive, Cedar Run road on the east, Kent Road on the north and Jenelle Road and State Route 643 on the south. It is right below Christianburg, Virginia, another town in Montgomery County.
Because it is only a few minutes away from a number of service-oriented commercial establishments and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, better known as Virginia Tech, most Ellett – Jennelle residents are in the education, training, library, sales, office and service occupations.
With many of the younger population enrolled at the university and adult residents being employed by the university and nearby businesses, the Blacksburg Transit (BT) provides easily accessible bus transportation to and from the campus. This transportation option is subsidized by Virginia Tech.
The town of Blacksburg is divided into three districts. Ellet – Jennelle is part of District A, which covers most of the southern and southeastern portions of the town, along with the northeastern portion of the county. The other neighborhoods within the district include Airport Acres, Alleghany Downtown Eastside and Grissom – Highland, Houston/Harrell, Miller Southside and Mountain View.
Most of the bars and restaurants which residents can easily access are located along Main Street, Draper Road and Prices Fork Road. The nearest ones are less than half a mile away from the neighborhood center like Rivermill Bar and Grill, Starbucks Coffee, Ceritano’s Ristorante, China Inn, Bull and Bones and Alpha Pizzeria.
With the Virginia Tech and Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport just a few minutes away, there are a number of accommodation options near the area like Holiday Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center.
