Triangle State Neighborhood

Triangle State is one of the newer developments in the Austin area. It is primarily made up of commercial and retail establishments but is home to The Triangle, one of Austin’s largest apartment complexes.

Triangle State is an “L”-shaped neighborhood in the 78751 zip code. Its southern boundary is West 38th Street with 51st street designating the northern boundary. North Lamar Boulevard is the western boundary, and Guadalupe Street curves into 45th Street marking the eastern and southern part of the arm of the area.

Two major medical centers lie in the southern part of this neighborhood. The Austin State Hospital is a state facility for those with mental disorders, and the Heart Hospital of Austin is a division of the St. David’s Medical Center specializing in cardiovascular issues. The Texas Department for Aging and Disability Services is located at the northernmost point of Triangle State.

Along North Lamar Boulevard, residents and visitors can frequent Central Market, a grocery store chain local to Texas specializing in organic and natural foods. Local restaurants also pepper this area. To the north, where North Austin Boulevard and Guadalupe Street converge, The Triangle has dozens of restaurants, bars and retail stores in an inclusive structure that also has apartment-style residences. The Flying Saucer, Mandola’s Italian Grill, Mama Fu’s and Galaxy Cafe are a few of the more popular venues.

In the center of The Triangle is Triangle Park, a plot of grass and trees perfect for walking a dog. Other parks in the area include the small Central Park at the southern point of the area. The University of Texas Intramural Fields are also part of the Triangle State area with tennis courts, soccer and football fields, softball and baseball diamonds, and trails for running.
