Maplecrest Neighborhood
The homes of the Maplecrest neighborhood look over sweeping lawns of azaleas and magnolias. The hilly terrain and open vistas create a rural atmosphere. Maplecrest lies west of McGavock Pike, bound by Maplecrest Drive and Selma Drive, in zip code 37214. It is within walking distance of great parks and attractions, and only a short drive to great shopping, entertainment, and dining.
Two Rivers Park and Wave Country is a five-minute walk away. As might be expected, there are good walking trails here. What is surprising is the water park, with flumes, slides, and pool. A great Metro Parks golf courses is at Two Rivers, and at the north end of the park is a footbridge across the Cumberland River. From here, residents enjoy watching the showboat, barges, and other river traffic before crossing over to Shelby Bottoms Greenway, one segment of the greater Nashville trail system.
Peeler Park is another fine neighborhood park. Canoeists frequently gather here for events on the Cumberland, a great way to enjoy the scenery and riverfront homes. Horseback riders frequent the riding trails. Families make good use of the paved trails for walking and biking.
Great shopping, entertainment, and dining are just a couple of miles north. The Grand Ole Opry is here of course, but also Opry Mills. Opry Mills not only offers what seems like endless shopping, but also numerous restaurants, including Regal Opry Mills 20 and IMAX theaters, and Bass Pro Shop.
The General Jackson Showboat departs from the Opry Mills area. With numerous cruise options and packages, the four-deck showboat is a great way to celebrate a special event, cruise the river, take in a show, and enjoy the nighttime skyline of Nashville. With great dining and special events throughout the year, there is always something new to enjoy.
