Northgate Neighborhood

The Northgate community is a neighborhood in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area and is in Franklin County. Just north of the Forest Park community, Northgate has easy access to both Interstate 71 and 270. While providing an easy commute into the city of Columbus, Northgate is mainly a residential area with single family homes, condominiums and apartment complexes.

Northgate provides a family environment with two main schools, Alpine Elementary and Beechcroft High School, as well as an alternative school and a learning center. Beechcroft Park and Northgate Park are also located in the community. Many of the tree-lined residential streets are cul-de-sacs or loop around to connecting roads.

Sharon Woods Metro Park borders the community to the north. This Metro Park offers hiking, biking, picnic and playground areas and a lodge as well. Shrock Lake, inside Sharon Woods, provides an opportunity for fishing.

Sharon Woods Boulevard is the main road through the community and runs from north to south. Dining can be found on the outskirts of Northgate and includes Chipotle Mexican Grill and East of Chicago Pizza. Other pizzerias, a Dairy Queen and more can be found on Karl Road and Schrock Road.

The Northgate community is bordered by Cleveland Avenue on the east, with the Atrium Shopping Center on Cleveland Avenue offering shopping and dining. To the south of Northgate, East Dublin Granville Road has many restaurants and several hotels can also be found for hosting visitors.

The median home sales price in 2010 was $84,000 with homes ranging up to $170,000. Apartments are available from studios to three bedroom units. The 43229 zip code covers the Northgate area.
