Northern Woods Neighborhood

Northern Woods is a primarily residential community in northern Columbus, within Franklin County. The neighborhood is situated roughly 20 minutes north of the downtown area, just south and west of Interstate 270 and east of Interstate 71. The ZIP code for Northern Woods is 43231. Area communities include Huber Ridge and Minerva Park.

Proximity to the interstate is a major draw of the Northern Woods neighborhood, and residents enjoy easy access to a variety of area amenities. Several shopping centers are just minutes south of the neighborhood, along State Highway 161. These include the Granville, Raintree, Northland Plaza, and Alum Creek Plaza shopping centers. Another small retail center is just minutes to the north, on Cleveland Avenue. Clearly, Northern Woods residents have no shortage of convenient shopping, dining, and entertainment options within minutes of home.

A few minutes southeast of Northern Woods is the Minerva Lake Golf Club. This popular area club offers an 18-hole, par-69 public course. Open from dusk to dawn year-round so long as the weather permits, this course is highly playable for a variety of skill levels.

Just east of the neighborhood is Cooper Park, another option for outdoor recreation. While there aren’t many amenities there, the vast expanse of open green space is like an oasis in the middle of the city, perfect for picnicking or playing outdoor games. James O. Casto Park, situated a few minutes to the southeast of Northern Woods, offers a soccer field, playground, basketball court, and four tennis courts.

This is just the beginning when it comes to all that the Northern Woods neighborhood and the surrounding area have to offer. The heart of downtown Columbus is less than 13 miles to the south. In the downtown area, visitors will find additional options for entertainment, dining, and shopping. Also near the downtown area are The Ohio State University and the Port Columbus International Airport.
