West Sugar Creek Neighborhood

West Sugar Creek is a neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, between the major highways interstates 77 and 85. The borders of West Sugar Creek include David Cox Road to the north, West Sugar Creek Road and Christenbury Road at the east, then Gibbon Road and the curve of Old Statesville Road around the south and west.

David Cox Road Elementary School is at the northern boundary of this neighborhood. The area between David Cox Road and West W. T. Harris Boulevard features more businesses, while the eastern and southern borders of West Sugar Creek are mostly residential, though neither is overly crowded. Tree-lined streets and boulevards, with wooded areas throughout the vicinity, maintain North Carolina parkland beauty in the city.

A large portion of West Sugar Creek belongs to the E. C. Griffith Company. This Charlotte-based company originally acquired the parcel as 360 acres of farm land. This includes the reservoirs located in the center of West Sugar Creek, since renamed Griffith Lakes. This central area is still planned for residential development, with a focus on public transit. The North Corridor Transit Line, a developing inter-city rail service, is intended to play a major role.

Real estate in this neighborhood is a mix of established traditional homes and new construction. Prices are generally around the one hundred to one hundred fifty thousand dollar range.
