West Boulevard is a neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina located just west of the city’s center. The namesake West Boulevard runs east and west through this neighborhood, just south of its center. Carolina Golf Course borders the neighborhood’s west side, with Wilkinson Boulevard to the north.
Westover Shopping Center sits on the east border, just off of Remount Road. A number of restaurants and other businesses also populate the vicinity. The neighborhood’s border continues to the south around Revolution Park Golf Course.
This neighborhood is sparsely populated. Most houses are wedged between shopping centers and parkland. Buses provide public transportation to and from the main roads. The neighborhood is honeycombed with creeks flowing in and out of a small lake. Large trees and many wooded areas giving the area something of a rural attraction in the city. Real estate is mostly older, cozy homes.
The area is served by a local library, grocery store, and a YMCA, so locals are also able to enjoy these amenities and still stay close to home. Two elementary schools, Barringer Elementary and Barringer Academic Center, are located in this neighborhood, as well.
West Boulevard emanates a home-town character. Residents have both the heart of the city and plenty of parkland available, creating a perfect balance between nature and urbanity.
