South Plaza Neighborhood

South Plaza is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. The neighborhood is located along Brookside Boulevard to the south of Ward Parkway and north of 55th Street. The homes in the area are mixed with many detached homes as well as apartment buildings and condos providing a wide number of living options for residents.

Along the east side of South Plaza is one of the largest schools in the region, the University of Missouri at Kansas City. The school provides a wide number of education options to the numerous students that attend the school on an annual basis. The school is also a major employer in the area both directly and indirectly as it brings a substantial amount of money to the surrounding area.

South of South Plaza is the Jacob L Loose Park. This park is moderately sized and provides an excellent place for active residents to gather. The park has four tennis courts that get regular use, a playground, and a nice pond with fountains. There is also a lot of open space throughout the park that is perfect for a variety of activities, including picnicking. Surrounding the park is a nice path that is used by walkers, runners, and cyclists and provides a nice bit of distance with excellent scenery for those exercising.

For a little bit of culture less than a mile away to the north off of Oak Street is the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. This museum has a number of great exhibits featuring modern art from around the country and the world. One of the most interesting exhibits is an outdoor sculpture garden. Exhibits also feature photography which is often left out of many exhibits. In order to keep the museum unique upon subsequent visits, exhibits are changed frequently.
