Located along the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C., Anacostia Naval Station is associated with Bolling Air Force Base and was established in 1918. NSF Anacostia maintains a large heliport facility. The Marine Helicopter Squadron One supports presidential transport operations of Marine One.
NSF Anacostia is located just south of Capitol Hill. This dynamic area doesn’t just house the US Congress; it is the largest historic residential neighborhood. It is the location of the Flea Market at Eastern Market, a diverse collection of collectibles, antiques, arts and crafts, and more from over 100 exhibitors. The Capitol Hill Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district was selected in 1790 for the “Congress House” by architect Pierre L’Enfant.
