Hillcrest Neighborhood

Boise’s Hillcrest area is a nice, relatively quiet part of town. Located between Wright on the South, Overland Road on the North, Curtis Road on the West and Roosevelt on the East, it is basically comprised of residential areas.

The residential areas are pedestrian friendly. To reach the business areas, vehicles are recommended.

The Hillcrest Golf Course takes up much of the landscape on the southern portion of the Hillcrest area, with private residences and the freeway just north of it.

Golfers say Hillcrest is a great course, and its golfing tournaments have drawn a lot of big-name celebrities over the years.

Orchard Avenue, the median north to south street in Hillcrest, has access to residential areas and auto dealerships on lots of real estate north of the freeway. Overland Road, the northern border of Hillcrest, has many small business. There are pizza parlors, auto parts stores, specialty restaurants, computer repair shops, and more. There’s a movie theater with many screens showing movies that have already run in big-time movie complexes.

Many of the businesses are family-owned or small, chain-type operations. “Big and fast” is not a phrase to describe the Hillcrest area. Laid back, helpful, and friendly are more accurate.

If people want a nice, older, well-maintained place to live and work, Hillcrest might just be a good fit.
