The county seat of Gwinnett County is also its largest city, Lawrenceville. Incorporated in 1821, Lawrenceville is one of the oldest cities in the Atlanta area.
Gwinnett County is named after a Georgia delegate who signed the Declaration of Independence, Button Gwinnett.
