Denver West Neighborhood

Located on the eastern outskirts of Golden, Colorado, the Denver West neighborhood provides quick access to the Denver Metro area and is the principal gateway to activities in the Colorado Mountains. Ideally located at the junction of Interstate 70, C-470, and US Highway 6, this business office and shopping complex offers a variety of activities.

Until 2000, the Denver West neighborhood was a mix of car dealerships, office complexes, and dusty fields. Today the area is home to a thriving hub of shopping centers, a 1 million square foot shopping mall, office complexes, new car dealerships, light industry, hotels, and a few multi-story apartment complexes.

Denver West lies within the 80401 zip code and is very roughly bordered by West 20th Avenue to the north, Hawthorne Road to the east, 6th Avenue Freeway to the south, and Juniper Street to the west. Interstate 70 runs across its northern border and US Highway 6 runs along its southern border. West Colfax Avenue/US Highway 40 cuts diagonally through the neighborhood.

Entertainment, shopping, and dining are minutes away for residents of Denver West. Numerous shopping and dining choices are available at the Denver West Village, and Colorado Mills shopping mall. Movie fans can choose between two theater complexes, while skateboarders can session the indoor Woodward Skatepark year-round at Colorado Mills. International musical groups can be heard at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in nearby Morrison.

Outdoor activities abound in and around Denver West. Golfers can indulge their passion for the sport at Fossil Trace Golf Club, or the smaller Applewood Golf Course. Hiking trails are available next to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory Visitors Center and around Lookout Mountain. Rock climbing, kayaking, and gold panning are often enjoyed in Clear Creek Canyon. Mountain bikers can use the single track available at White Ranch Open Space Park. Skiing and snowboarding are just 45 minutes away on Interstate 70.
