Briargate is a master-planned community in Colorado Springs, within El Paso County. Overlooking the Rocky Mountains and bordering the U.S. Air Force Academy, this residential neighborhood spans a massive 9,600 acres. It is expanding in popularity as one of the most visible communities in the area. A pedestrian underpass has been constructed, making Briargate eco-friendlier as well as safer and more convenient for pedestrians.
The community extends roughly to Briargate Boulevard and Woodmen Road on the south, Research Parkway on the north, Austin Bluffs Parkway to the east, and the Skyline Trail and Shape Hills Drive on the west. However, the master plan includes the Briargate Business Campus to the northwest and the surrounding communities of Summerfield, Gatehouse, Fairfax, Briargate Crossing, Pine Creek, Cordera, and Kettle Creeek. The neighborhood and the surrounding area offer residents many amenities. Rampart Park and Chapel Hills Mall are within the neighborhood bounds. Rampart is a 78.4-acre community park on Lexington Drive. It offers tennis courts, a basketball court, a baseball field, a playground, a BMX track, a soccer field, a picnic area, restrooms, and a dog park. A perimeter sidewalk allows for walking and jogging. The Chapel Hills Mall is home to at least 155 specialty stores anchored by six major department stores and a food court.
Some of the other features of the Briargate community include the Pine Creek Golf Course, Memorial Hospital North, and the Pikes Peak Community College-Rampart Range Campus. The Promenade Shops at Briargate provide additional shopping and dining options. For more recreation, residents visit the Briargate Family YMCA and a skate park. The Challenger Learning Center, the only facility of its kind in the U.S., is located near the neighborhood. All in all, the Briargate community combines optimal convenience with the breathtaking beauty of Colorado living.
