Francisco Middle School is a public school located nearby, with classes for grades six through eight. It is within walking distance for most students in the community. John Yahll Hill Elementary School is within the neighborhood, offers classes in kindergarten through fifth grade, and received a distinguished rating from Great Schools.
Tante Marie Cooking School offers residents the opportunity to hone their skills in the kitchen. Classes are offered for every level of cooking from the professional to the weekend chef. Cooking demonstrations and private parties are also offered.
Walking from Telegraph Hill offers the option of going west to the piers, where there are a variety of food and entertainment choices, or heading to the north and into Chinatown. Shopping is available within the neighborhood at various shops.
