San Francisco at a Glance
SoMa Neighborhood
South of Market Street (or SoMa) is an expansive mixed-use neighborhood. From residential housing to modern art spaces to high-tech company headquarters, this once-industrial space is today the leading edge of new San Francisco. The SoMa neighborhood is where both residents and visitors will find the trendiest clubs, the break-out dining hot-spots, and the face of new technology.
SoMa is the hipper, edgier urban face of Silicon Valley. While the downturn of the high-tech business meant a drop-off of start-ups, SoMa itself was not immune to the shrinkage. However, the fittest high-tech survivors remain to call SoMa home.
The neighborhood is not only a bevy of high technology loft spaces, but also a thriving cultural arts community. Located within its boundaries are many private art galleries, as well as San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Cartoon Art Museum, and the California Historical Society, among others.
Another important area landmark is the Yerba Buena Gardens, with peaceful parkland, museums (including the Children's Creativity Museum, a multimedia museum for children) and a bowling alley. Yerba Buena Gardens also offers residents an indoor ice rink and a carousel to round out the fun.
Other recreational hot spots in the SoMa neighborhood include Oracle Park down by the waterfront and the tiny gem of a park enjoyed by so many (particularly by the afternoon lunch crowd) is South Park, bordered by small coffee shops and restaurants.
The area is abundant with restaurants featuring every cuisine imaginable and plenty of coffee shops and nightclubs, too. Re-purposed warehouses in the area make it a prime location for big dance clubs and a lively night scene.
Despite its growth in recent years, the expansive size of the neighborhood and relatively affordable real estate prices mean there is yet more room for new development and change, a neighborhood hallmark.

About Our Deals
Apartment Finder utilizes the industry's largest and most complete database of real-time rents and availabilities to help you find an amazing deal on your next rental.
Price Drop
Apartment communities change their rental rates often - sometimes multiple times a day. We track the changes and keep you up to date when a rental rate decreases.
Best Value
"Best value" units are located in buildings rated three stars or higher. We label apartment rentals that are priced significantly less than similar high-quality units nearby.
Rent Specials
Apartment communities regularly advertise deals for new residents. Whether it's a move-in special or a free tv, we locate the rentals that offer a little something extra when you sign your lease.
Note: Based on community-supplied data and independent market research. Subject to change without notice.
