The affluent and upscale Pacific Heights features elegant Victorian homes located on a steep hill, with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Presidio as a backdrop. This expensive neighborhood, often used in films, contains homes built during the mid-to-late 1800s. The C.A. Belden House is one of the oldest in the neighborhood and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Pacific Heights contains several elite private schools, upscale shopping along Fillmore Street, sidewalk cafes, numerous restaurants, and the Clay Theater — one of the oldest theaters in San Francisco. The neighborhood contains two parks: Alta Plaza, at the top of the neighborhood, features stunning views of Alcatraz and Fort Mason, a play area, and tennis courts. Lafayette is a smaller park in the middle of Pacific Heights. Located on a hill, Lafayette also offers incredible views and plenty of open green space.
