Crossroads Neighborhood

The Crossroads neighborhood and Crossroads Shopping Center are located in Northeast Bellevue. The area is north of Northeast 8th Street, the main road through Bellevue, and south of state Route 520 and Bel Red Road, which criss-crosses the region. Crossroads Shopping Center is a neighborhood anchor, both for its shops and the community activities it sponsors.

Bellevue, Washington, is located across Lake Washington from Seattle, and is a large urban city in its own right. One of the largest cities in the state, the large downtown area features skyscrapers as well as low-rise commercial buildings. The Crossroads area is filled with single-family homes as well as smaller apartment buildings and condos. Commercial properties line the streets and many apartment and commercial buildings house shops and restaurants on the main floor. Views from the taller buildings and hills give the city its name, derived from the French word for “beautiful view.”

Crossroads Shopping Center is a suburban shopping mall, but along with shops and restaurants, the center is home to a branch of Bellevue City Hall. There is free wireless Internet service for visitors and also a library. The mall offers more than 3,000 free events to the community every year and provides free meeting space for clubs and other gatherings. The food court is home to a giant chess set with pieces more than 3 feet tall. A farmer’s market is held on Tuesdays from May to October where local farmers bring their produce and crafts. Crossroads hosts many community events, such as free music, classes and exhibitions.
