Hollins-Wildwood Neighborhood

Located in the Northeast portion of the city of Roanoke, Hollins-Wildwood is home to residential developments consisting of mostly single family homes. Along the Orange Avenue (Route 460) portion of the area, commercial development dominates the landscape which is accessible to the main interstate, I-81.

Business landmark Roanoke Centre for Industry and Technology (RCIT) is home to a number of major companies including Advanced Auto Parts, Orvis, Maple Leaf Bakery and Elizabeth Arden to name a few. Other shopping can be found in strip mall style developments around the area, including Hollins Road and the Orange Plaza Shopping Center as well. The fact that parts of the area have been designated a Virginia Enterprise Zone makes it doubly attractive to businesses that take advantage of those locations.

Hollins-Wildwood contains plenty of room for outdoor activities within its rural confines. Parks are plentiful with Wildwood boasting the 22 acre Thrasher Park which has become a favorite spot for picnics. East Gate Park is also part of Wildwood, while the Hollins section contains Bluestone Park as an attraction. Also scenically located in Hollins-Wildwood are two regulation 18 hole golf course/Country Clubs to choose from, including Ole Monterey Golf Club, as well as Blue Hills Golf Club. The neighborhood is also centrally located to the Roanoke Regional Airport for travel and the Roanoke Civic Center for concerts and other events.

The 24012 zip code for Hollins-Wildwood provides numerous choices of schools. Three public elementary schools including Bonsack, Colonial, Cloverdale, and Mountain View are within five miles. Middle schools include William Byrd and Read Mountain; high schools available are William Byrd and Lord Botetourt.
