MacGregor Neighborhood

MacGregor is a neighborhood that is rich in areas of interest.

Parkwood Park is found here. Though not all that large, this park is beautiful, and it contains a number of different species of trees and bushes, as does much of the neighborhood of MacGregor. Slightly smaller, Riverside Park is also in the area.

MacGregor Park is larger still, at around 100 acres or so. This park has an area for playing basketball, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and even an 18-hole golf course. The park also has picnic areas and a playground for the use of the community. It isn’t a new park, either. MacGregor park has been around since the mid 1920s, to serve the needs of the community.

MacGregor Park is also located very near the University of Houston campus, and it is also near Texas Southern University. There is a well known library to assist students at this location: M. D. Anderson Library.

The neighborhood of MacGregor is located roughly between Interstate 45, Interstate 610, and US Highway 59.

There are numerous bike and hiking trails in the area, for use by the community and others. These provide not only recreation, but also a means of getting through the area that is both green and healthful.

Additionally, there is a river that furnishes fishing enjoyment for the community, eventually winding its way to the bay. People of all ages enjoy fishing in the river, and the nearby bay.

Numerous and diverse businesses serve the neighborhood of mostly middle class people. Though the area is primarily middle class, it also includes lower and higher income families and there are less expensive apartments in the area.

MacGregor is an area with a long and great history, and it is a scenic one to behold.
