Homestead is a somewhat rural community located 10 miles northeast of downtown Houston, Texas. Also referred to as East Little York, this community takes its name from the streets that border it to the south and east — Little York Road and Homestead Road. It is a collection of smaller, affordable homes and apartment buildings.
With its country-Texas feel so close to downtown, Homestead has plenty of open space. Trotter Park is a 26-acre park in the neighborhood, while Sheldon Lake State Park is seven miles east. This popular fishing and boating destination also contains a nature center with learning programs and a nature trail. The George Bush Intercontinental Airport is eight miles from Homestead.
