Westgate is a neighborhood in Austin, Texas. The neighborhood is located northwest of Manchaca Road to the south of US Highway 290. The neighborhood is loaded with trees that provide excellent canopy cover and wonderful scenery. Many major roads in the area provide quick access to a wide variety of activities throughout Austin.
Directly north of Westgate along US Highway 290 are many different options for residents. The area is home to a large Target, which is the main shopping destination for day to day needs. The same area is also known for having excellent dining options. Restaurants representing a wide variety of flavors are abundant off of US Highway 290 directly to the north of Westgate. The area has a Regal Cinema movie theater that is popular with families and teenagers as a place to relax and enjoy a good movie.
Directly east off of Woodward Street about a mile from Westgate is one of the largest colleges in the area, St Edwards University. This large university provides education to many students throughout the immediate Austin region and beyond. The school is known for having many different educational offerings representing a wide number of specialties. St Edwards offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and certificate programs. The school also has a sports program that brings in fans during game days for a little bit of area sports entertainment.
About a mile to the north is the Barton Creek Greenbelt West. This large park is loaded with nature and is quite popular with active residents. The park has a wide variety of wildlife making it popular with photographers and naturalists including bird watchers. There is also a trail that provides multiple miles of exercise for walkers, runners and cyclists known as the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail.
