Bouldin Neighborhood

Bouldin, also know as Bouldin Creek, is a trendy, commercial and residential pocket in south central Austin. In addition to its restaurants and retail stores, this area has offers easy access to Zilker Park, downtown Austin, and several other major attractions.

Bouldin is located in Austin’s trendiest zip code: 78704. It is bordered by South Lamar Boulevard to the west and South 1st Street to the east. West Oltorf Street acts as the southern boundary and Barton Springs Road borders the neighborhood to the north.

One of the most notable attractions in the Bouldin area is the Town Lake hiking and biking trail. This trail makes its way around Town Lake, also known as Lady Bird Lake, in loops ranging from three miles to about ten miles. This trail sees hundreds of cyclists, pedestrians, and joggers every week and is a great, scenic way to get around south Austin. At the Bouldin entrance to the trail sits a park area perfect for picnics and families.

Also in the area are the Long Center for Performing Arts and the Palmer Events Center. These establishments host concerts, shows, conventions, and other various events throughout the year.

Houses in the area are largely located in the southern half of the neighborhood and are densely-packed structures that vary in style and age. Most of the residences are single-family homes, though some have been converted into duplexes or townhome structures. While the yards may be small, this area is well-kept and has plenty of foliage. Roads are narrow and not ideal for pedestrians, but the city’s public transportation system also has several routes that stop regularly in the area.
