Southwood Neighborhood

The Southwood neighborhood in Nashville is mainly comprised of single-family ranches with brick exteriors that sit on lots shaded by oaks, maples, and willow trees. The community is situated just south of Haywood Lane, east of Nolensville Pike, north and northeast of Old Hickory Boulevard and Bell Road and west of I-24. Being in such close access of the interstate system affords residents the opportunity to visit area malls, check out family attractions and dine out every now and then.

One of the malls that residents visit often is the CoolSprings Galleria in Nashville. The large mall, which is located at 1800 Galleria Boulevard, houses over 165 stores and features a food court that can seat 500 people. Major retailers, such as Sears, Macy’s, Dillard’s and the Belk Home Store are part of the roster of stores that are featured at the mall, which also includes smaller upscale retailers such as Fossil, Banana Republic, Talbots, and the Dakota Watch Company. Locals can indeed spend most of the day shopping as the Galleria is opened from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6:00 on Sundays.

When they are not shopping, some of the residents like to walk their dogs at one of the nearby dog parks. Some choose to visit the Warner Dog Park, located at 50 Vaughn Road, while others opt to take their walking companion to the Shelby Dog Park at Shelby Avenue and South 20thStreet.

Residents can’t help but agree that the Southwood neighborhood is just one of the many communities in Nashville that are amiable spots in which to reside and work.
