Downtown Columbia Neighborhood

Downtown Columbia is a mix of pulsating commercial and residential city center. There is a growing business market full of law firms, real estate companies and financial institutions. There are also many traditional brick style homes, as well as modern condominiums and apartments in the area. Downtown Columbia has beautiful tree lined streets and homes are built on big lots. The neighborhood also offers upscale contemporary lofts.

Columbia Owens Downtown Airport is conveniently located in Downtown. It offers residents and visitors easy access to businesses and residences in the Columbia area. It is just two miles south of the central business district.

Downtown offers many things to do and see. Some interesting points of interest are The Columbia Museum of Art, the Edventure Children’s Museum, Richland County Public Library and the Kroger Center. The neighborhood is home to some fine hotels such as Clarion Hotel that offers guests a state-of-the-art fitness room, a swimming pool and a late night breakfast buffet. Hampton Inn is located in the historic downtown district. Guests enjoy the Jacuzzi rooms, outdoor salt-water pool and complimentary breakfast.

The University of South Carolina is located in downtown Columbia. The school has 350-degree programs and more than 27,000 students. The university employs more than 1,600 faculty members. The Horseshoe is in the center of the campus and is where many students go in between classes to study or have lunch.

Finlay Park is a popular spot in downtown Columbia. There is a man-made waterfall and stream, as well as two playgrounds, walking paths and a café. There are two porch swings for visitors to enjoy. Concerts and other special events are held regularly in Finlay Park.
