Apartments in Downtown Pittsburgh are “golden!” Welcome to the Golden Triangle, the urban core of this terrific city. Shaped like a triangle, Downtown Pittsburgh comes to a point between the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. It extends past I-579 and includes Duquesne University, CONSOL Energy Center, Heinz Field, PPG Place, and Market Square. Point State Park, located between the rivers, is Downtown Pittsburgh’s exclamation point, complete with the Fort Pitt Museum, the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and the Point State Park Fountain.

Heinz Field is (of course!) home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and you don’t want to be caught living in Downtown Pittsburgh without your “terrible towel.” This city is all about the black and gold, so be prepared for game day! PNC Park is home to the MLB Pittsburgh Pirates, and hockey fans will love cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Consol Energy Center. And for those who prefer college sports, the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, the Duquesne University Dukes, and the Point Park University Pioneers will provide hours of game-day fun. There’s no question about it -- Pittsburgh is a sports town, so get ready to cheer!

Pittsburgh is the “City of Bridges,” and there are 18 bridges in Downtown Pittsburgh alone (there are 446 total bridges throughout the city). Downtown, you’ll find the Liberty Bridge, the Andy Warhol Bridge, Fort Pitt Bridge, Fort Duquesne Bridge, and Panhandle Bridge. Downtown is also made up of several districts, including the Pittsburgh Central Downtown Historic District. This district contains 26 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings include the William Penn Hotel, the Oliver Building, Mellon Square, and Gulf Tower.

Living in a Downtown Pittsburgh apartment, you’ll likely leave the car at home – this is a very pedestrian-friendly area, ideal for walking and bicycling. Public transportation is also available throughout the downtown area, with four light rail stations and several bus stops.
