Strip District Neighborhood

Located between 11th and 33rd Streets, Pittsburgh’s Strip District is a half-square-mile parcel of land that is situated to the south of the Allegheny River. This bustling neighborhood is filled with unique restaurants, retail shops, and entertainment venues.

Originally founded around industrial giants like U.S. Steel and Westinghouse, the Strip District used to cater to the plethora of industrial workers on their meal breaks. Pittsburgh’s Primanti Bros. Restaurant, famous for their overstuffed sandwiches, was born in the Strip District in the early 1930s and still resides there today.

In addition to Primanti Bros., the Strip District offers a variety of culinary delights to visitors and residents alike. One can grab a bite to eat at the Bagel Factory and Pastry Market, Boomerang BBQ and Wood-fired Pizza, Café Raymond, DeLuca’s Restaurant, Eleven, and Fudgie Wudgie Fudge and Chocolate Factory.

Those who like fresh, wholesale produce will love the Pittsburgh Public Market, which is also located in the Strip District. From apples to tomatoes to broccoli to dairy products and bakery items, the Pittsburgh Public Market provides a unique shopping experience to customers.

A variety of art galleries, antique stores, boutiques and even a live theater, the Open Stage, are also located in the Strip District. The night life in the area is bustling, as well, and is especially lively during summertime evenings.
