Edgewood Neighborhood

Gorgeously landscaped lawns line the streets of the quiet neighborhood of Edgewood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Beautiful homes, apartments, and townhomes sit along its tree-lined streets. Architectural styles include Victorian, Georgian, and Colonial.

Edgewood is a borough of Pittsburgh and is a part of zip code 15218 in Allegheny County. The neighborhoods of Swissvale, Wilkinsburg, Braddock Hills, and Regent Square border it and it is ideally located just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.

Edgewood is considered a walkable and family friendly community. It is a part of the Woodland Hills School District, and the primary school is within walking distance for most Edgewood children. Highly rated private schools are also nearby.

The Edgewood community is very active. There is an annual town meeting, community-wide dances, recreational sports, and social activities such as the “Community Day” in August and a haunted house in October. The Community Day features a 5K race, parade, games, food, orchestra performances, and a fireworks display.

When residents want to take a break from it all and relax, many head to Koenig Field or Dickson Park. Music connoisseurs frequent concerts given by the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra, and reading buffs flock to the C.C. Mellor Memorial Library, Edgewood’s free public library. Edgewood is also home to the Edgewood Towne Center, a popular shopping plaza anchored by Giant Eagle, AJ Wright, and Kmart.

Some of the wealthier residents of Edgewood belong to the Edgewood Club. This historic club was founded in 1904 and serves as the area’s premier athletic, civic, and social club. Members enjoy a swimming pool, children’s pool, tennis courts, and a dining area. Its elegant ballroom makes it a popular spot for wedding receptions and social and business gatherings.
