Cedar Hills – Cedar Mill North Neighborhood

The Cedar Hills-Cedar Mills North Neighborhood of the 97225 zip code area is in Beaverton, a subsidiary of Portland, Oregon. The neighborhood was the single largest tract of homes developed in the west, at its completion in 1961. Originally the neighborhood spanned the unincorporated Washington County, and only recently became a member of the Beaverton community, in 2010.

The boundaries of the neighborhood follow the subtle curves of the Southwest Sunset Highway to the north, until Route Number 8/Southwest Canyon Road cuts back as the eastern line. The southern border is a jagged line of peaks and falls that starts at Southwest Walker Road and finishes its twisting course along Southwest Milliken Road before meeting the western front of 158th Avenue.

The Cedar Hills-Cedar Mills North neighborhood, perched along the freeway, is poised to receive all the benefits of the city at the fingertips of the residents. To the north of the neighborhood is the Claremont Golf Club, with a short 9-hole course that spans 3,060 yards on a par 36 course. The Portland Children’s Museum, founded in 1949, is the sixth oldest Children’s Museum in the world, and is to the east of the neighborhood.

To the south of the Cedar Hills-Cedar Mills Neighborhood is the City of Portland: Redtail Golf Course and Driving Range, a 7,107-yard, 72-par course, as well as the Raleigh Swim Center public pool are two of the draws here. The Park Lanes Family Entertainment Center, west of the neighborhood, is far more then just a bowling alley–it hosts batting cages, an impressively modern game room, and themed bowling on 32 lanes.

The split-level and single-story ranch style homes here were built in the late 1950s and early 1960s on neatly placed rows that were woven among the green trees and grasses of Oregon, with cozy streets that keep neighbors close.
