Southeast of downtown Tulsa is the neighborhood of Patrick Henry. It consists of medium-sized ranch homes with many tree-lined streets. In the northeast corner of Patrick Henry is the University of Oklahoma–Tulsa Schusterman Center. Bordering on the south is State Route 66.

During the two-hour drive through the preserve, visitors have an opportunity to see grazing bison and 500 different plant species. The preserve also has camping facilities, picnic grounds, and hiking trails available for use.
