Catholic University of America is a pontifical university, established directly by the Holy See. It is one of only six such universities in the United States, with three of those in Washington, DC. CUA is the only university founded by the US Catholic bishops.
As a private, liberal arts university, CUA offers several degree programs in 12 schools, including Doctor of Philosophy degrees in 66 programs and 103 master’s degree programs. Schools include the School of Philosophy, the School of Theology and Religious Studies, the School of Nursing, the School of Architecture and Planning, the School of Engineering, and the Columbus School of Law.
