American University, or AU, is a school that lives and breathes politics. Students here are involved in issues from political campaigns to promoting international human rights. The university has the 12th largest number of graduates in Peace Corps service, and ranks fourth in the number of Peace Corps volunteers as a percentage of the total undergraduate population.
The enrollment at AU numbers 13,047 students. The university offers 57 undergraduate, 53 graduate, and 10 doctoral degree programs, as well as a JD program and 105 study-abroad opportunities. More than 80 percent of undergraduates and 60 percent of graduate students participate in at least one internship.
Known for promoting international understanding, the school boasts the regular presence of world leaders on its campus and calls itself “a networking goldmine.”
