Hillsdale Neighborhood

Hillsdale is one of many small municipalities near Saint Louis, Missouri, within St. Louis County. This particular community is located about five miles northwest of downtown St. Louis, which is easily accessible via nearby Highway 180. Hillsdale encompasses the 63121 zip code area and is north of Highway 180/Martin Luther King Drive and west of Kienlen Avenue. Nearby communities include Velda Village Hills and Wells-Goodfellow.

Several elementary and secondary schools are easily within walking distance for students living in Hillsdale. These include Bishop Elementary School on Wellsmar Avenue, Pine Lawn Elementary School on Kienlen Avenue, and Normandy Senior High School on Saint Charles Rock Road.

The Hillsdale community contains several commercial options, but it is largely made up of residential areas. The homes here are modest single-family structures, which vary in style.

To the southeast, the downtown area offers a variety of cultural attractions and entertainment options, but the area just northwest of Hillsdale offers many amenities that are closer to home. Wealthier residents of this community that can afford the private membership dues may belong to either Normandie Golf Club or Glen Echo Country Club. The latter is a prestigious private club that offers an historic 18-hole course that dates back to 1901. Other amenities here include swimming facilities, tennis courts, and a clubhouse with formal and casual dining options.

Just north of the golf and country clubs is the University of Missouri – St. Louis campus. Close proximity would make Hillsdale a prime neighborhood for aspiring college students. A prominent university in Missouri, UMSL is the most attended institution in the city.

Also within a short drive northwest of Hillsdale is the Normandy Shopping Center, a convenient option for local shopping and dining.
