Grand Center Neighborhood
As the name suggests, Grand Center is located in central Saint Louis, Missouri, near the heart of the downtown area. It is considered the city’s arts and entertainment district, and the name refers both to the area itself and the non-profit agency by the same name (Grand Center, Inc.) that helps govern the area. The zip code for Grand Center is 63108, and it is part of Saint Louis County.
The Grand Center district is located northwest of Midtown and just a few blocks north of the Saint Louis University campus. Touted as the place where “art and life converge,” this neighborhood includes residential areas, hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs, as well as several museums and galleries. One of the cultural attractions found here is the Powell Symphony Hall, which hosts the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. Others include the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art, Fox Theatre, Sheldon Concert Hall, and Saint Louis University Museum of Art.
Among the residential options here is the Continental-Life Building, a prominent city skyscraper that was recently renovated into an apartment complex. Residents enjoy a three-story parking garage, the roof of which features an outdoor pool. This Art Deco building represents some of the best of city living in Saint Louis and is within walking distance of all of the area attractions and amenities.
For outdoor recreation, residents of Grand Center are within walking distance of several neighborhood parks, including Chambers Park and Garrison-Brantner-Webster Park. Less than two miles west of this district is Forest Park, a large city park that formerly hosted The World’s Fair. Today, it features a variety of amenities, including the Highlands Golf and Tennis Center and the Saint Louis Art Museum. Adjacent to the park on the west is another higher education option – the Washington University in Saint Louis.
