Castle Point Neighborhood

Castle Point is a community in northern Saint Louis, Missouri, located about nine miles from the downtown area. Not technically a city, the community is considered a “census-designated” area. As of July 2007, this community had more than 4,450 residents. Primarily residential, Castle Point consists of several streets that sit north of Chambers Road, east of Halls Ferry Road, west of Lewis and Clark Boulevard, and south of Interstate 270. The zip code for this St. Louis County community is 63136.

Castle Point lies just a few miles west of the Illinois border. It neighbors Moline Acres, Bellefontaine Neighbors, and Riverview. The average age here is 27, which is considerably lower than the state average of 36. This discrepancy could account for the lower-than-average median household income. As of 2009, Castle Point residents earned an average of $34,974, considerably lower than the state average of $45,229 for the same year.

This residential community consists largely of modest single-family homes, with an average value of $87,917 in 2009, lower than the state average of $139,700. In keeping with the “Castle Point” theme, the streets here all have royal addresses, including Monarch, Prince, Duke, Empress, Duchess, and Earl Drives.

A wide variety of amenities can be found within a short drive of the Castle Point neighborhood. The nearby interstate hosts a retail center, the Christian Northeast Hospital, and several dining and lodging options. Other significant area attractions within five miles of Castle Point include the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and the University of Missouri’s St. Louis campus.

More affluent residents of Castle Point may belong to one of several area golf clubs, including the Norwood Hills, Normandie, and Glen Echo Golf and Country Clubs. The public Eagle Springs Golf Course is situated just over one mile north of the neighborhood, on the other side of I-270.
