Saint Louis, Missouri spans about 62 square miles west of the Mississippi River. It is home to Major League Baseball’s Saint Louis Cardinals, the Grammy-award winning Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Saint Louis National Charity Horse Show held at Queen County Park each fall.
North of Saint Louis’ largest city park, Forest Park, is the community of Bel-Ridge. Located in the 63121 zip code of Saint Louis County, Bel-Ridge is just outside the city proper, south of the Lambert-Saint Louis International Airport. It is west of the University of Missouri Saint Louis Campus. Interstate 170 (the Inner Belt Expressway) borders Bel-Ridge to the west and Interstate 70 to the northeast. Saint Charles Rock Road is to its south.
Bel-Ridge is a mix of residential living spaces and community businesses. Single-family homes mingle with rental properties, including apartment complexes.
Bel-Ridge is near several parks offering outdoor activities ranging from softball and baseball, basketball courts, tennis courts, hiking, and water activities. Ramona Lake Park on Coolidge Avenue is less than two miles from Bel-Ridge. Also near the Bel-Ridge community are Gutknecht Arrowhead Park and Lake Charles Park.
About a mile and a half south of Bel-Ridge is the historic Normandie Golf Course. Designed by Robert Foulis and built in 1901, the Normandie is the oldest operating public golf course west of the Mississippi River. Having been designed before golf carts, the Normandie is one of the easiest courses for golfers to walk with the tees located close to the previous green.
The Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis is less than two miles from Bel-Ridge. Touhill hosts multiple performances each year including concerts, stand-up comedy, dramas, and ballet.
