The Downtown Loop Neighborhood

The Downtown Loop offers a wide range of activities for the entire family. While many believe because of the name that it is primarily commercially zoned, the Downtown Loop actually offers a number of residential properties (in excess of ten thousand residential units).

Buildings of note in the Downtown Loop include AMC Theaters, the Bartle Hall Convention Center, the Memorial Auditorium, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and many others. Much like other Kansas City areas, the Downtown Loop is also divided up into smaller "neighborhoods," including the Library District, where the Kansas City Public Library, AMC Theatres, and Community Bookshelf is located. Another popular area of the Downtown Loop is the Garment District where you can see an oversize needle and thread monument. Another well-traveled area is the Government District where you will find City Hall, the Courthouse, and several other government facilities. Here you will also find Ilus Davis Park.

Another highly-populated area is the Financial District. In this area you will find One Kansas City Place, which is the tallest habitable structure in Missouri; the Town Pavilion, and the headquarters of the Kansas City School District. The Power and Light District in Downtown Kansas City is primarily comprised of entertainment venues including Bartle Hall Convention Center and the Sprint Center. This district is overlapping with the Convention District where again, all buildings are within walking distance.

The Downtown Loop is home to major businesses, such as Hallmark, but it also provides plenty of recreation, shopping, and nightlife. Enjoy basketball games and concerts at the Sprint Center, or see a movie at a nearby theater. Nightclubs, music venues, and museums can also be found in this downtown neighborhood.
