In Kansas City’s Broadway Gillham, visitors can rediscover history at a museum, relax in the sun at a park, and indulge in mouth-watering Kansas City barbecue. A theater and a Federal Reserve Bank are located in the neighborhood, which stretches from Broadway Street in the west to Gillham Road in the east and from 31st Street in the north to Armour Boulevard in the south.
Wooded and green spaces sprawl over more than 120 acres near the northwestern corner of Broadway Gillham in Penn Valley Park. Skaters can grind the eight-step handrail, jump the euro gap, and dip into the 12-foot bowl at the skate park. Park visitors can throw a strike at the baseball diamond, ace a serve at the tennis courts, or play with the dog at Penn Valley Park’s off-leash dog park.
The United States’ official National World War I Museum, on the northern side of Penn Valley Park, has been preserving the memory of the First World War for more than 90 years. Kansas City’s Federal Reserve Bank’s 14-story building sits just to the south of the community and is the newest in the Federal Reserve system.
The Just Off Broadway Theater, located near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and West 31st Street, has staged more than 180 productions to an estimated audience of more than 36,000 since it was built in 1999.
