Kayton/Frazier Area Neighborhood

Kayton/Frazier Area is a neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia in the 31401 zip code. The boundaries are Atlantic Coastal Highway on the west, East Anderson Street on the south, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on the east, and West Harris Street on the north. The neighborhood is primarily made up of apartment buildings and multi-family detached homes. Restaurants and commercial businesses are mixed in.

Forsyth Park is arguably one of the most famous green spaces in Savannah. It was the first large park created in the city. The fountain in the park is a popular landmark for photographers. It is a replica of the fountain found in the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The view up the avenue of live oaks draped in Spanish moss that create an arch is iconic. Parents can be seen pushing strollers and carriages down the paths. The park is the perfect place to walk or enjoy the park benches.

The Savannah History Museum is located in the Visitor’s Center. A video introduces the city and its history, and the museum has many artifacts relating to the history of the city. The role of the railroad and the Civil War are covered. Tour buses and trolleys leave from the visitor center regularly.

Savannah College of Art and Design is known as the university of creative careers. The university has eight creative schools that offer a variety of degrees. The college has a gift store where artwork created by students can be purchased.

Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room is one of the most famous restaurants in Savannah. Open for lunch only Monday-Friday, diners line up an hour in advance to get a seat at this family-style restaurant where Southern classics are served.
